Anna Sullivan is the Artistic Director and Choreographer of the multi-media dance theater project, Anna and The Annadroids. Sullivan is originally from Columbus, Ohio and received a Bachelors of Specialized Studies in Choreography, Performance, and Cultural Anthropology from Ohio University in 2003. In 2004 Anna started a dance project called Anatomical Scenario and out of this project her signature characters Anna and The Annadroids were born. Between 2005 and 2011 Anna produced eleven evening length dance concerts, created work for countless special events, had her work presented at the New York International Fringe Festival three times, received multiple project grants from the Greater Columbus Arts Council and Ohio Arts Council, and in 2008 received the Greater Columbus Arts Councils Artistic Excellence Award of $10,000 for her production The Clone Zone.
Since moving to San Francisco in 2011 Anna has fully submerged herself into the local dance scene and feels very fortunate to have found an amazing cast of dedicated dancers as well as local support through The Zellerbach Foundation, The Fleishhacker Foundation, Theater Bay Area CA$H Grants, Dance Mission, and SafeHouse Productions. In 2013 Anna was nominated Choreographer of the Year by Bay Area Dance Watch.
Anna’s current multimedia production, Faux(pas)bia, will be presented at the Joe Goode Annex, in late February 2017, as part of the Noisepop Festival. This performance will stand as the album release event of her soundtrack album, Faux(pas)bia.
Anna is also very much involved with the wellness community. She is both a certified yoga and Pilates Instructor and is currently finishing up her certification as a Holistic Nutrition Consultant at Bauman College in Berkeley, CA.
